FESTIVAL VOLUNTEERS

Volunteers are vital to the success of the Oatley Village Festival. Each year, we rely on the generous support of volunteers from neighbouring Lions Clubs, other community groups and a fabulous team of community minded individual volunteers.

LIONS INFORMATION STAND

On Festival day, volunteers are required to register at the Lions Information Stand for insurances purposes.

Here are some good reasons to register:

  • Lions insurance cover for all Festival volunteers
  • Collect a Lions cap, name tag or Lions t-shirt
  • Free Meal voucher (sausage sandwich and soft drink)
  • Invitation to the Lions post-festival volunteers night.

The Lions Information Stand is also responsible for:

  • Festival Site Location Maps
  • Stall holder enquiries
  • Lions membership and promotion
  • Photo competition registration form
  • Lions raffle tickets
  • Lions Christmas Cakes
  • Lost Property

TRASH AND TREASURE

On the Festival day, our day starts at 6.00am. We welcome all volunteers to help with the huge stock of treasures (a) setting up tressle tables and unpacking the goods (b) selling, and (c) packing up and disposing of the 'unwanted' goods and clearing the property. Believe it or not, it really is a lot of fun and as they say 'the more, the merrier'.

The trash and treasure ('pre-festival' collection site) is located on the vacant block in Oatley Avenue (behind Oatley RSL). Volunteers are needed to assist in the collection of donated goods on the three Saturdays prior to the Festival.

ERECTING STALL EQUIPMENT

Each year volunteers help to erect hired fete stalls. These fete stalls are located in Frederick Street and Oatley Avenue. This task commences at 6.00am and finishes by 8.00am.

Other tasks include setting up the change room tents, erecting signs, set up the Lions barbecue, Information Stand, chocolate Wheel and Stall Marshalls to assist stall holders with general enquiries.

'PRE-FESTIVAL' FRIDAY SET UP

Friday, the day before the Festival is a busy day with a number of set-up tasks to be done. These tasks include site markings for stall sites and setting up the power cables. We also need to be on-site to receive Council signage and bins.
